Intro Rope  The stark simplicity of the rope makes it one of the most open and inviting pieces of circus equipment. We will build a basic vocabulary of wraps and climbs that will give you what you need to grow and explore the rope further. $55

September 16th, 12:30pm-2:00pm
Intermediate Rope  Explore more advanced climbs, drops, beats, and ways of thinking about transitions. We will work to expand your technical vocabulary, with a focus on the skills and connections that are needed to build fluid sequences and take your rope work to the next level.  $55

September 16th, 2:30pm-4:00pm
Intro to Straps  Learn the basics of this unusual and challenging aerial apparatus. We will build a foundation with ground work, spinning, rolls, and working both "above" and "below" the straps, with emphasis on conditioning, form, and technique.  $55

The Story is the Thing  What makes the best performance you have ever seen?  Was that 'thing' specific to you (i.e. You love Paris, France and the performance was during a romantic vacation there, or Heavy Metal is your favorite music and a circus used all Metallica and Gun'n Roses as their soundtrack), or was it universal?

In this discussion and practical class we will collaboratively investigate the intersection of circus and theater.  We will ask:

What do we want to see as an audience?

What do we want to produce, individually, as artists?

What do we want to produce, collectively, as companies hoping to make truly innovative and engaging works of storytelling/art?

This workshop will be a combination of writing, discussion, and movement in solo & group formations.  No prior experience is required in any field,an open mind with questions is encouraged.  $55
